MMOexp Diablo 4: Uber boss farming-specifically Urivar-is unmatched
The Pit: Speed Beats Difficulty
The Pit used to dominate Paragon leveling. In Season 12, it's still viable-but only if you focus on clear speed, not depth.
Examples:
Pit 100:
6.3 million XP
~180 seconds
~126 million XP/hour
Pit 79:
5 million XP
~100 seconds
~200 million XP/hour
Lower pits completed faster outperform higher pits for XP. Nothing has changed here-speed is king.
Helltide: Relaxed but Effective
Helltide remains a solid, low-stress option:
Kill mobs
Collect cinders
Open chests
Kill the Helltide boss
Complete Whisper objectives
With Diablo 4 Gold optimal routing and pylons, Helltide averages around:
~180 million XP/hour
It s not the fastest, but it s consistent, enjoyable, and feeds into boss key generation.
Kurast Undercity (Curest)
Kurast Undercity has improved significantly in Season 12 due to increased beacon experience.
Average clear time: ~2.5 minutes
XP per hour: ~85 million
Mythical drop rate: ~30% over time
Running Undercity in a duo is more efficient because players can activate beacons simultaneously. However, chasing goblins or Andariel-specific mechanics here is inefficient and unnecessary.
Infernal Horde: Strong XP, RNG Dependent
Infernal Horde offers:
~50 million XP per 10-wave run
~250 million XP/hour
The downside is randomness. You may encounter anywhere from zero to three Chaos Waves per run, which impacts efficiency.
Still, it s a strong mid-tier option, especially when paired with Asmodan farming.
World Bosses: Not Worth the Time
World bosses grant:
~9.2 million XP
~1.5 minutes to kill
Much longer to sort loot
The loot is overwhelmingly trash, and XP efficiency is poor compared to other activities. Outside of Whisper completions, world bosses are mostly a distraction.
Uber Bosses: The Real XP Meta
Uber bosses are the primary XP source in Season 12. Kill times, not difficulty, determine efficiency.
Here s the breakdown:
Minor Uber Bosses
Varshan:
3.7M XP
~20s kill
~535M XP/hour
Zir:
4.1M XP
~492M XP/hour
Grigoire:
3.9M XP
~487M XP/hour
The Clear Winner: Urivar
XP per kill: 5.5 million
Kill time: ~17 seconds
XP per hour: ~929 million
Urivar is technically a minor boss, yet rewards XP far beyond any other. Whether intentional or a data-entry mistake, he is the best Paragon farm in Season 12.
Major Ubers
Andariel: ~660M XP/hour
Duriel: ~531M XP/hour
Urivar Harbinger: ~588M XP/hour
All are viable, but none beat standard Urivar.
Solo vs Party for Ubers
For XP:
Solo is often better
Parties are slowed by the slowest player
Altars won t activate until everyone opens their chest
The small party XP bonus does not compensate for Diablo 4 admissions lost time.
Final Thoughts
Season 12 fundamentally shifted Paragon leveling. The Pit is no longer king. Nightmare Dungeons are serviceable but inefficient. Infernal Horde and Helltide are solid fillers.
But Uber boss farming-specifically Urivar-is unmatched. Moreover, you can quickly accumulate Diablo 4 Gold and Diablo 4 Items, killing two birds with one stone!
That said, hitting Paragon 300 a week earlier doesn t matter if your gear isn t ready. Farming Ubers that drop the uniques you need is often the smarter long-term play.
